Health Insurance Information for new US Citizens and Green Card Holders

India Network Foundation has been receiving several requests for suitable health insurance coverage from United States Citizens and Green Card holders who are not eligible for Medicare and social security benefits. This group is typically in the 55+ age group with limited Choices, particularly those with pre-existing conditions. There are very few choices in the private insurance sector. Dr. KV Rao did some research in this area and found one or two helpful programs that may take 55+ aged green card holders and citizens with pre-existing conditions. Here is some information. India Network would be happy to assist with any questions that are not addressed in the web site.

Dear Sir/Madam – I am looking for insurance for my in-laws (81 yrs and 77 yrs of age). They are Indian citizens and have USA Permanent Residency (Green Cards). They spend 6 months in the USA with us (in Michigan) and the other 6 months in India. Please let me know the travel health insurance available to purchase. Thank you.

    Dear Dr Rao,
I have heard a lot from my friends about you and India network foundation. I am seeking your help with regard to the possibility of taking a short term health insurance for my US citizen daughter who is visiting us in India. My daughter has been a naturalized US citizen for the last few years and working in New York. She lost her job in February 2014 but has been successful to get a new job in New York. She is currently visiting us in Bangalore and will leave for the US on the 23rd April and join her new job on 1st May. Her new company will cover her medical insurance from 1st May but she needs some coverage for the perion 23 April – 1st May. Let me know whether India Network foundation has any short tm insurance available to US citizens of Indian origin who are in between jobs. Would appreciate it if you can let me know the possibilities.

Dear Prof Eswaran, Thanks for your email. India Network offer plans to visitors coming to the USA. We offer a program for US citizens for temporary coverage from IHC Health Short Term Health Insurance and that program can be purchased for a minimum duration of 1 month.
Hope this would help your daughter.
